Merseyrail has announced that it has been shortlisted three times at the National Rail Awards 2019.

The shortlist includes the coveted Passenger Operator of the Year award.

The train operating company was named most punctual operator in the UK for 2018 – 2019.

Merseyrail is nominated for Safety Initiative of the Year, Great Place to Work and Passenger Operator of the Year.

The news comes after Merseyrail were crowned winners of the Excellence in Sustainability and Society Award at the British Quality Foundation Awards in May 2019.

This accolade recognised community and environmental projects flourishing over the last 12 months at Merseyrail.

These include an LED lighting project, staff environment code, educational travel awareness initiatives with schools across the region, community partnerships and support for organisations such as MENCAP and Autism Initiatives.

The National Rail Awards will take place on 19 September 2019 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
