An update has been released detailing updates on 5551 The Unknown Warrior and Crewe Heritage Open Day.
The decision has been made to select a contractor for the final assembly. The contractor options have been narrowed down to two options. There have been several meetings that are known to have taken place with another meeting experiencing a delay until the 6th of June, this delay could not be avoided.
They are hopeful that the outcome of these meetings will be made known to the public by the end of June 2019 and They will let you know by email or letter depending on your selected contact preference about this.
On Saturday, 8th June 2019, an Open Day will be held for members of the Crewe Heritage Centre. This open day is an open day in which is where it will be possible for you to view The Unknown Warrior which is currently residing in the old Boiler Shop at the centre. Volunteers will be at the centre in order to answer any questions you have. The centre would like to remind you that you need to remember to bring your membership card in to gain admission to the centre and this open day that is being held.
Also, The Crewe Heritage Centre is having a model railway event in the Main Hall of the centre involving around eight layouts that are present plus it will also have some trade support and society stands too. If you have already booked your ticket for The Railway Magazine Open Day held at LNWR Heritage/Locomotive Services Limited, Crewe Depot, there will in fact be a Routemaster bus operating at a timetable of regular intervals between Crewe station, the depot and Crewe Heritage Centre in order to transport you between the variety of the sites.
Readers will be pleased to know the Project is launching a second volume of The Patriots, A Pictorial Record, that features the images of Nos. 45526-45551 and also features the 2020 calendar. Both of these will be available on sale from the 8th of June at the Open Day itself.

Look forward to seeing 70007 coeur-de-lion departing Liverpool street again along with 700036 Boadicea. Long live the preservationists.
