Steam locomotive heading for Carlisle this Tuesday

A steam locomotive is heading for Carlisle as it heads a section of The Dalesman from York.

The locomotive will be heading from Hellifield to Carlisle and return.

We believe this tour to be headed by 8F No.48151, but have no confirmation of this. If we do have confirmation, we will let you know.

The tour will depart York at 08:30 behind a diesel locomotive, before heading via Church Fenton (08:40), Normanton (09:01), Wakefield Kirkgate (09:07), Wakefield Westgate (09:35), Leeds (09:54), Shipley (10:42), Keighley (10:56), Skipton (11:13) and Hellifield Goods Loop at 11:30.

Here, the steam locomotive is added to the train, departing at 12:00, the locomotive will head via Ribblehead (12:24), Kirkby Stephen (12:53), Appleby (13:08) and Carlisle at 14:11.

The return trip will see the locomotive depart Carlisle at 16:35 before heading via Appleby (17:25) and Settle (18:39) before heading into Hellifield at 18:50, where the locomotive leaves the train.

The diesel locomotive will take over the train, and will head via Skipton (19:49), Leeds (20:42), Wakefield Westgate (21:07), Wakefield Kirkgate (21:14), Normanton (21:22), and finally York at 22:00.
