Where and when to see steam locomotive 70000 Britannia in Crewe and Stratford this Saturday

Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia will be back in steam on the mainline and will be passing through Crewe and Stratford on Saturday 13th April 2019.

The Britannia locomotive is hauling a section of the ‘William Shakespeare’ railtour, from Crewe to Stratford-upon-Avon.

The railtour departs Preston behind a diesel locomotive at 08:01, from here, the train passes through Leyland (08:06), Wigan North Western (08:17), Warrington Bank Quay (08:30), Hartford (08:58), and Winsford (09:05), before arriving into Crewe. Here, 70000 is added to the train, after this, the train will pass through Norton Bridge (10:06), Stafford (10:13), Walsall (11:06), Tyseley (12:17), Solihull (12:22), Lapworth (12:28), and Wilmcote (12:45) before arriving into Stratford-upon-Avon at 12:50.

The return trip will see the locomotive depart Stratford-upon-Avon at 1610, and will return to Crewe via Olton (16:46), Walsall (18:36), Stafford (19:19), and Madeley (19:39) before arriving into Crewe at 19:51, from here, the train, now behind a diesel locomotive, passes through Hartford (20:34), Warrington Bank Quay (20:47), Wigan North Western (21:10), and Balshaw Lane (21:23) before arriving into Preston at 21:30.
