TransPennine Express introduces WhatsApp for its rail passengers

Transpennine Express have announced that they have introduced WhatsApp for its passengers.

The new social media channel went live today (Monday 4th February 2019) for passengers to ask all sorts of questions, whether it’s what ticket to buy or when is the next train to your destination.

TransPennine say they are committed to finding new ways to communicate with their customers and this new channel will make it even easier for people to get the support they need.

To contact TPE, passengers simply need to open WhatsApp and type in the following contact number: 07812 223336.

Lines are open between 0800 and 2100 every day, except Christmas and Boxing Days.

With 1.5 billion users every month, WhatsApp is one of the most used social media platform in the world, with approximately 55 billion messages being sent every day.

What did the officials say?

Customer Experience Director for , Kathryn O’Brien said:

“We are thrilled that our customers are now able to contact us directly through WhatsApp making us the first train company in the UK to offer this.

“Many will already be familiar with this popular channel and this will allow us to connect with our customers whenever they need their questions answering.

“We are committed to providing the best possible experience and service for our customers and communities and are constantly looking at news ways of doing this.”
