Northern has announced details of cancellations to train services on Sunday 6th January 2019 in the North West.

These cancellations are said to be NOT part of the introduction of the new timetable.
Planned cancellations are as follows:

- No services will not run.
- An hourly replacement bus service will be provided.

- Preston – Hellifield
- All services have been cancelled. A bus replacement service will be provided.
- Southport – Blackburn (via Atherton and Todmorden Curve)
- This service will not run.
- Northern will be running bus replacement services between Wigan Wallgate and Southport and also between Todmorden and Blackburn.

Arriva Northern should be stripped off its franchise. Because they have failed to provide better rail services for passengers across the North of England with so many delays and cancellations to every train service it operates. Transpennine Express operated by First Group does provide much better rail services than Northern. And I think that Transpennine Express should take over the Northern franchise and to keep on providing better train services across the North of England.
Strikes I reckon. Or perhaps it’s because of engineering works taking place.
