Work has continued on overhauling LMS Stanier Mogul No.13268 by the Stanier Mogul Fund.
Lubrication System and Sandboxes
Recent work has seen the reassembly of the lubrication system for 13268. Many of the pipes are being replaced with new ones, such as the pipe which links the rear axle’s horn guides to oil boxes located in the engine’s cab.
The pipework for the steam brake mechanism, also found in the cab, will be new.
The main component for the lubrication system, the mechanical lubricators, are currently having their operating mechanism overhauled.
Painted and reattached, the front sandboxes’ filler pipes can be seen in the featured photo, just behind smokebox saddle, finished and ready to be filled when the locomotive is back in service.
