The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway has announced that diesel locomotive D9537 Eric will be visiting the line in 2019.

D9537 makes his visit to the courtesy of the East Lancashire Railway.

Eric will be hauling trains at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway throughout its 2019 season-long visit.

The locomotive will be running alongside other locomotives during its time at the railway.

A brief history of D9537 Eric

D9537 was built in 1965 at the British Railway’s Swindon Works. Work for the Class 14 was shunting duties as well as short distance freight trains. This ‘Teddy Bear’ (the nickname for the Class 14s by enthusiasts) arrived at the East Lancashire Railway in 2013 and returned to service in 2014 and has visited the Spa Valley Railway and Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for special events.
