Where and when to see steam locomotive No.45699 Galatea in Carlisle and Blackburn tomorrow

Steam locomotive 45699 Galatea will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 11th August 2018.

The Jubilee locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow. 45699 is hauling the Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday.

The railtour departs London Euston behind an electric locomotive at approximately 07:10 am.

The railtour will then leave London Euston, bound for Carlisle, where it will make stops at Milton Keynes Central (07:45), Rugby (08:23), Nuneaton (08:44), Crewe (09:36) and Preston (09:55) before arriving at Carnforth Down and Up Goods Loop at 10:49.

Here, the 45699 Galatea will be added to the front of the train. The train will depart with Galatea at 11:24, steaming through Oxenholme (11:43) and Penrith (12:21), it will go non stop to Carlisle, where it will arrive at 12:41.

After around an hour in Carlisle, Galatea will depart Carlisle at 14:10 bound for London Euston. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswalk (14:38) and will stop for water at Appleby (14:59).

Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, Galatea will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 15:59, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (16:15) where it heads for Hellifield, for a water stop, at 16:22.

From here, 45699 Galatea will pass through Clitheroe (17:09) and Blackburn (17:36) before arriving into Farington Junction, outside Preston, at 18:00.

At Farington Junction, 45699 Galatea is taken off the train, and a diesel locomotive will take the same path back to London Euston, calling at Crewe (19:27), Nuneaton (20:26), Rugby (20:53), Milton Keynes Central (21:21) and Watford Junction at 22:03.

The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of London Euston at 22:27.
