The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway has announced that it is giving steam train fans the chance to fulfil a dream with a ride in the cab of one of their steam locomotives.
One fan of steam, Bethany Taylor, from Brant Broughton, recently took a trip on one of the railway’s engines called ‘Spitfire’ on her 22nd birthday.
Additionally, if you have ever thought of becoming a signalman, the railway can also give you the opportunity to learn the ropes in the signal box at Ludborough station.
The footplate ride and signal box experiences at the railway are starting to become very popular. They are the perfect gift for a railway fan. Click here for more information.
What did they say?
Beth said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed my footplate ride. I just love steam trains and it was a surprise present from my parents – I had no idea where I was going on the day!”
“While I was on the engine the driver and fireman showed me all the controls and explained how a steam locomotive works. I had a go at stoking the fire and applying the brakes – and I just loved pulling the whistle!”
