The South Devon Railway has released the timetables for trains at this year’s Rails & Ales weekend, which is being held on the August Bank Holiday.

During the long weekend, why not pop down to the for diesel and steam trains and the famous beer and cider, of course!

Trains will be running all day, with departures from both ends of the line, Buckfastleigh and Totnes, at frequent intervals throughout the day.

At Buckfastleigh, the South Devon Railway’s London Transport Routemaster bus will be making trips to Buckfast Abbey and along to Ashburton.

The garden railway, museum, gift shop, and gardens will all be open as usual.

At Staverton, the midpoint of the South Devon Railway, the beer and cider festival will be in full swing from 11:00 am until late (6 pm on Monday). The festival will offer a great selection of ales, craft beers and ciders to enjoy from the Devon Diesel Society’s award-winning bar.

Additionally, there will be:

  • A BBQ on Friday and Saturday evening
  • Buffet car serving hot and cold drinks and food.
  • Quiz on Sunday evening.
