The have announced that steam locomotive No.3 ‘Sir Haydn’ has arrived back at its home railway after a successful overhaul.

The locomotive has been at the Vale of Rheidol for the past number of years having a complete overhaul.

Now, back in the bright welsh sunshine, she looks superb I’m sure you will agree!

More information about when Sir Haydn will return to steam will be announced soon, please keep an eye on our homepage for the latest.

Steam tests, both light and loaded, will most likely need to be completed, but it is great to see this lovely little locomotive back on its home turf and we look forward to seeing it steam again.

A brief history of No.3 “Sir Haydn”

The engine originally worked on the Corris Railway from new in 1878 to when the line closed in 1948. A new lease of life was given to the locomotive when the Talyllyn Railway purchases No.3 in 1951.

The engine’s last boiler ticket expired in April 2012, where the engine was then transferred to the Aberystwyth Workshop at the Vale of Rheidol for an overhaul.
