The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (K&WVR)’s flagship locomotive, Ivatt 2 Tank No. 41241, is one step closer to steaming again with its boiler passing its steam tests.

With the 50th Anniversary of the K&WVR next year, it’s hoped that 41241 can be overhauled in time, as the Ivatt Tank hauled the first train down the line in June 1968.

41241 was brought from British Railways with the sole purpose of being used on the line. Since the run in June 1968, 41241 been popular on the K&WVR, wearing an unusual livery of Maroon with “KWVR” lettering on the side tanks. The Ivatt Tank also visted the Stockton and Darlington Railway 150th anniversary.

Withdraw from its last boiler ticket in January 2013, the K&WVR have launched an appeal to help get 41241 back in steam for the 50th Anniversary of the K&WVR.
