At the end of the year, on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th of December, the Mid Norfolk Railway host their Winter Warmer Diesel Gala.
At the time of writing, four diesels have been confirmed to take part.
These are: Class 50 No. 50026 “Indomitable”, Class 37 No. 37688, Class 47 No. 47367 and Class 47 No. 47596 “Aldeburgh Festival”.
MNR are currently waiting for confirmation on mainline diesel they have planned to join the four diesels mentioned above.
When news of whether this potential visitor can join the gala is comfirmed, a follow up article will be released from us at RailAdvent.
Locomotives Confirmed for the Gala
Class 50 No. 50026 “Indomitable” (Originally numbered D426) was saved from the being scrapped in the early 90s. As of 2017, 50026 has performed at a few galas across the country and is privately owned. 50026 is currently in Network SouthEast livery.
Class 47 No.was preserved by the Stratford 47 Group Ltd in 2003, after being withdrawn in 2001. Restoration was taken place at MNR, where it has spent majority of its preserved life. Its currently painted in BR Blue livery.
Class 37 No. 37688 (originally numbered D6905) was brought by the D05 Presevation Ltd in early 2017. The new owners then moved 37688 to MNR in March, where it has stayed ever since. Its currently in DRS Blue livery, (with DRS lettering removed) which its former owners, Direct Rail Service, painted her in.
Class 47 No. 47596 “Aldeburgh Festival” has followed a very similar preserved life to 47367. Also owned by Stratford 47 Group and moved to MNR as well. Currently carries Network SouthEast livery.
