Yesterday, the 5532 Restoration Project announced that Llangollen based locomotive 2859 had been sold for £38,000

It has previously been reported that 3 groups were interested in purchasing 2859 with a full restoration on the cards for the future.

At the most recent AGM, the three groups were asked to write to the group and share their plans to the Great Western Locomotive Group.

2 out of the three groups wrote and shared their views.

Group 2 have fulfilled their agreement for £38,000 and the LRGWLP have agreed the sale. The group has also reserved the 6 coupling rods which the LRGWLP also have for the loco.

If the coupling rods are also bought, it will give the group 70% of the required funds to finish 5532s boiler.

The proceeds of the sale will all go towards 5532’s ongoing boiler restoration.
