This weekend, the Fairbourne Railway are holding their annual Steam Gala – this year, steam locomotive ‘Sian’ will be visiting from the Windmill Farm Railway and also ‘Mountaineer’ which is also visiting from the Windmill Farm Railway.
An intensive timetable will be in operation throughout the three days (27/28/29 May 2017). Shuttles will be performed by Sian and Mountaineer on the newly laid 15″ gauge track between Beech Road Halt and Fairbourne Station.
Steam Locomotives at the Steam Gala
Sian is a 2-4-2 steam locomotive which was built in 1963 for the original Fairbourne Railway (all originally 15″ gauge) – Sian was resident at the FR until 1985 and now resides at the Windmill Farm Railway. Mountaineer was built in 1970 – owned by Austin Moss, it normally resides with Sian at the WFR.
Mountaineer and Sian will be joining the home fleet of Russell, Sherpa and Yeo across all three days of the event.
